How do I see who unfollowed me on Instagram?
To see who unfollowed you on Instagram, compare two copies of your followers list, an older one and a new one. Anyone on the old list who isn't on the new one unfollowed you. Instagram never tells you when someone leaves, but it gives every user a free data download. That ZIP file holds your full followers and following lists, as JSON or HTML, with the date each follow happened.
The ZIP method is the one people swap on Reddit, and it's the safe one: no app gets your password and nothing logs in as you. Drop one file and you instantly see who doesn't follow you back. Drop two from different days, or save today's lists here, and you see who unfollowed you in between, name by name.
What your file shows you
- Who unfollowed you since your last file, with the date each person had followed you
- Who doesn't follow you back, and who you don't follow back
- Your mutuals, newest followers and longest followers, all searchable
- New followers by month on a chart, as far back as your file goes
- Any list saved as a CSV spreadsheet, plus an email reminder to check again in 3, 7 or 30 days

Good to know
- A file is a snapshot of the moment Instagram made it. Anyone who followed or left after that only shows up in your next file.
- With Date range left on Last year, Instagram can leave your followers out of the file. Set it to All time.
- It only works for your own account. There's no honest way to see who unfollowed someone else.

FAQ
Who unfollowed me on Instagram: your questions
Yes. You never type your Instagram login here. You request your data file inside the Instagram app yourself, then drop it on this page. We can't log in as you, and nothing is posted, followed or unfollowed.
Look in the followers_and_following folder (connections/followers_and_following in some exports). followers_1.json holds your followers, following.json the accounts you follow. Drop the whole ZIP or just those JSON files. The HTML versions work too.
Most likely the export's Date range was Last year, the default. Instagram can then leave the followers file out. Export again with Date range set to All time. Under Customise information you can pick only Followers and following, so it arrives sooner.
Often a few minutes, sometimes a few hours. Instagram sends a notification and an email when it's ready. You then have 4 days to download it from Export your information, under Available downloads.
One file shows who doesn't follow you back right now. To see who unfollowed you, you need a second point in time: drop an older file with it, or save today's lists so your next file is compared automatically.
No. The ZIP is opened in the browser on your phone or computer. Only if you choose to save your lists are usernames and follow dates kept, up to 12 saved files, and you can delete them any time.
Yes. Reading your file, every list and the comparison are free, and they don't use your daily lookups. Saving your lists for next time only needs a free sign-in with your email.
